Hometown Heroes Skate: Indianapolis 2011

Competition looked pretty stiff here at the Hometown Heroes stop in Indianapolis. Even during practice, there was no doubt that this would be a hard one to judge. At a glance you’d see any number of dudes hammering down tricks on one of the various handrails or hips on the concrete course.

The skatepark is embedded within a community center which hosts all sorts of other sports. Around the complex you’ll find basketball courts, workout areas, and a huge waterside into an olympic sized pool. This variety of extra-skateboard-activities allowed several random soccer moms and Nascar dads the opportunity to check out Hometown Heroes in it’s full glory.

In the comp we saw a lot of raw tre-flip skills from Grant Campbell. Grant had a flow and natural looking style that got him rocking and rolling into third place. The crowd was hyped to see Brandon Murphy land clean varial flips and a fakie 360 flip over the hip during the finals to clench himself the 2nd place trophy.

And coming in first was Daniel Taylor. With huge 360 flips down the gap and flowing and linking tricks together like nollie 270 heelflips and switch frontside 360’s over the hips, Daniel was a shoe in for the win.

Good looks on all the skating, and we will see Daniel in Los Angeles at the end of July for the HH finals.
